First Time Here?
Your first All Hands can be a little overwhelming. We've made it easier by assigning first timers a Novacoast Ambassador to act as a guide during the events.
Your Ambassador will sit with you during meetings and introduce you to other Novacoasters. They'll be there along the way to answer any questions you may have.
The meeting point for Ambassadors and First Timers will be during Wednesday lunch kick off.
The ribbon colors on name badges will give you a good idea of what each person does. Check out the guide to name badge ribbon colors HERE.

Inside Tips from other Novacoasters
-
Be on time.

Travel in smart casual clothing. If your luggage gets lost or your room isn't ready, you will still have appropriate clothing.
-
People tend to dress up Friday night. Don't be caught too causal.
-
Bring a note pad to write on as your laptop with be with the support team. Plan ahead on who you want to meet, maybe send them an email so you can have a face to face!...(there are a lot of people there and you can meet everyone, so set your priorities!)
-
Be prepared for employee photos during lunch, check the schedule so you know which day.
-
You're in the company of an incredible group of people. Mingle and have fun!
-
Don't schedule your flight too early on Saturday morning, Friday night raffle is at midnight!
-
Your schedule will be filled, so don't expect to have free time during All Hands.
-
You may arrive before your hotel room is ready. Just be prepared to drop your bag off with the hotel bellman.
-
Seek out those that you communicate with over email, but have never met face to face. This will help you build upon existing relationships and make new ones. We're all good people, so go meet some of them.
-
Review the Novacoast organizational chart so you know who people are.
-
Also, if there is a theme for dressing up on Friday night, find out beforehand what it is and dress up!
-
Be early to the Friday morning meeting and get enough sleep Thursday night!
-
Know the Executive Team by name!
-
Check the dress codes for the evening events.
-
Your guest will not be able to join you during the company lunches. Don't plan on sneaking out either, you are expected to be at lunch to talk to our sponsoring vendors.
-
Walk around the hotel as soon as you get there to figure out where the meeting rooms are. That way you know exactly where to go so you don't show up late for your meetings from getting lost.
-
Don't sleep in; Get some breakfast. It's nice to meet the Novacoasters from around the country, so spend some time walking around talking to people during the breaks. Also, dance... at appropriate times.
-
Be proactive and ask questions. During the day, listen intently and write down or ask questions. During the evening events, engage yourself in meeting as many people as you can. The Novacoast family is welcoming so don't hesitate on the opportunity.
-
Make sure and get to know as many people as you can! Don't be shy! Especially with the Directors of Security Services and those in your area! This company is filled with some of the most amazing and talented people you will ever meet. This is your chance to get acquainted, make some friends and allies in the daily grind of business, and seek out those that will get you and keep you busy, and being profitable throughout the year!
-
Take notes, otherwise you'll forget those important items.
-
Meet as many people as you can. Bring a sweater to wear in the meeting rooms. It gets cold.
-
Don't drink too much or party on Wednesday and Thursday nights!!! Your attention/participation is needed the next day during the meetings. Friday night is the party night!
-
If you are in sales, get to know an engineer that can help you sell. If you are an engineer, get to know a sales person that can help you sell for them. Chances are you'll be able to fill your own pipeline with work.
-
Don't schedule conference calls during All Hands Meeting time, you cannot just leave for calls.
-
Drink a bottle of water before you go to sleep.... just kidding.
-
My piece of advice is to go meet as many other Novacoasters as you can, that way you can build new friendships and build more connections for work during the year.
-
Keep your laptop closed during the presentations.
-
Set your alarm a half hour before any time you should be expected. That gives you 10 minutes extra to recover when you forget about it, 10 minutes to panic, and 10 minutes to be early.
-
Be a part of the group videos.
-
Business Casual for All Hands meetings. For many this will be more dressy than a usual work day.
-
Men - slacks or khakis, collared shirt (button down or polo). Tie optional.
-
Women - slacks, khakis, or skirt with collared shirt or sweater.
-
-
Have fun and get to know your fellow Novacoasters! You never know when they might come in handy....
-
Southern California mornings can be particularly chilly in January. Have a light jacket or sweater.
-
Don't be afraid to ask questions, someone is always willing to help.
-
Eat breakfast, there usually is only coffee available in the meeting rooms before lunch.
